April 7, 1947 am
Darling,
Its a very long week ahead without you.
Very fine day out. Too good to attend lectures -- but...
Couldn't help but feel that something was wrong as you
left last night -- but it was a litile vague to worry you
about. If there is, please tell me, won't you?
Things have, in a matter of hours, snapped back to their
rigid, routine selves again: lectures, labs, appointments,
etc.
Final examinations end on the 12th of June (which means
that the 13th is the first day of vacation), however, my
last exam may end before the 12th. One never knows until
about a month in advance. All classes end on Sat May 31,
at lpm...and it's quite possible that I will be able to
spend Monday with you -- 1f you'll let me. That depends, of
course, on whether or not I'll have an exam on Tuesday.
I hope by now you've read gome of "The Red Pony". It's a
very fine book, and gives one a warm feeling reading it.
Read a little more of the Fountainhead. No comment. When
I have finished it, I'll give you a full report. I'm afraid
tho that there are a number of implications in the book that
I can't agree with. Alas, a writer can't hope fo please every-
one.
I took a closer look at your latest poem (the one you brought).
It is one of your nicest ones. You have a very smeoth line,
Madam. A thoroughly dangerous woman! I love to take chances!
Time for me to run along, now, Darling. I'll try to write you
a note tonight -- will if I possibly can.
